KiriBaku Reading Exchange

Hi! Are you looking for someone to read and comment on your krbk fanfiction? Do you want to read and comment on someone else's story?Join the reading exchange created by krbk's number one fans: the Bakusquad.

About us

Hi! This project was created for all the authors in need of a platform to promote their stories.Lately we've been reading about a lot of people saying that the krbk fandom is getting smaller day by day, and we want to do our parts to help the community! That's why, with KRBK R.E, authors will be the first ones to support each other and, hopefully, this will help writers feel more seen and even create bonds and friendships. For each one of us this is our first time as moderators and we're all very excited! We worked hard for this project, please make sure to let us know your feedback and help us guarantee you the best time!

Rules

Fill out the form to apply to the exchange and, after that, an invitation will be sent to you via email to join the Discord server. You will enter one of the reading groups with two other writers plus a member of the Bakusquad, who will be assigned to guide your group through your experience (not Blasty and Kiri, though, they can't know about this! Don't be a snitch!)You'll have ten days to read the amount of words agreed. Keep in mind you'll have to read that amount of words for both of the stories of the people in group with you, so try to manage the time you have as best as you can! Feel free to freak out in the chats! When done, you'll be asked to leave a comment to let the authors know if you enjoyed their fic and what you thought about the plot or the characters. The comment must be written as a comment on Ao3 (or a quote on Twitter.)Please remember that this exchange was created to uplift writers and give them an occasion to meet new people and discover new stories; therefore, mean comments and cruel critiques will not be tolerated. Those who break this exchange's rules will be banned from joining it again.

FAQs

What is the KiriBaku Reading Exchange? It's a project for krbk writers! We created a Discord server where we can host up to four groups, one per Bakusquad member: us, your moderators. Each group has three participants who enter the group with one of their fics! The participants of the group will have ten (10!) days to read each other's stories and leave a comment at the end, saying what they thought of the stories they just read. Are minors allowed to participate?Unfortunately as of now, no, they are not. We will be accepting both nsfw and problematic content, which will then be shared on the Twitter account too, something we don’t feel comfortable with minors interacting with.Do you only accept fics on Ao3 or is Twitter fine?Ao3 is our preferred platform, so we suggest that you sign up with your Ao3 story. We also accept Twitter threads, but your story must be of at least 20 tweets. How are the groups formed? We form the groups based on type of story and what the applicants are willing to read (SFW, NSFW, Dead Dove/Problematic). The applicants’ triggers and the stories’ tags are also fundamental. If you sent your application and are still waiting for your invitation, we're probably looking for compatible teammates or a free reading booth. Can we share ongoing stories?Yes, if it’s a published story you can send it in the application! The KiriBaku Reading Exchange only accepts already published stories. What if I get matched with a story I already read and commented on?In this case we’ll ask the participant if they have another story of theirs that they want to recommend to you and that they would like you to read. If you have already read a story and left kudos but didn’t comment on it, the Kiribaku Reading Exchange is your opportunity to leave a comment and let the author know how much you enjoyed their fic.Do I have to read the entire story? It depends! The amount of words you’ll have to read for the exchange is based on the answers the group’s members have selected in the form. Of course, if yours is a 20k word story and the other applicant’s story is 50k words and you both selected no preference for the amount of words you wanted to read, we’ll ask you to read around the same amount of words inside your story. If I need more time can I ask for a few more days?Of course, but all the other group’s members will have to agree on that. What should I write about the story in the comment? This is your occasion to be a total SIMP and gush about the writer’s work. Tell them if you loved the characters, how much you enjoyed the plot, and keyboard smash all of the emotions the story brought to you. This is not the place for critiques or complaints. If you have suggestions for the writer that you think would help them with the story and really want to share, we ask you to discuss them directly with the writer in a private chat. We’re all here to share love and appreciation, to uplift writers, and to give them the validation they deserve. How many words should my story have? However many you want! Keep in mind that the more words a story has, the less chance the other two participants will have to read all of your story (at least during the exchange - they might enjoy it so much that they’ll decide to keep on reading it even after the end of this experience). Don’t let this stop you from applying with your multi-chapter long fic, please - you might gain two new readers! What if I get matched with someone I don’t like? There’s a question in the application form dedicated specifically to this matter. Answer with the names of people that you don’t feel comfortable working with and we’ll avoid putting you guys in the same group. If you notice only after entering the Discord server that you’ve been put in a group with a person you don’t feel comfortable working with, then we ask you to send a ticket to your assigned mod regarding the matter. Can we submit only one story?Yes! You can recommend other stories to the other participants in the Discord server, but only one of yours will be read for the exchange.I want to participate, but I’m not a writer: can I?Of course. Since we'd like all of the participants to have 2 different pieces to read and leave 2 different comments, we suggest that readers only propose a story they like from an author they want to support and gift them those 2 comments from the other two KB R.E. participants. Is the Kiribaku Reading Exchange permanent?Yeah, it’s a long term project!
